  • We need to get a camp site. Do you want to do the 12 or the 6 hour?

  • I'd like to do a 2 person 12 hour.  I didn't see a 2 person single speed division.

    Alcaddymech - single or multi-speed?

  • I'll do a multi  with you, but I'm not sure how competative I am, I run a 1:45 17 mile omsp loop on a dual suspension but I run them for 3 laps. If you are interested let me know, I'll be there.

  •  Almost perfect - flexibility is great for trying to form teams..so you could ride either multi or single.  Will you wear a dress and race in co-ed if necessary ?

  • has anyone been to  this race before?  do we need to reserve campsites now or is it like bump and grind where they allow bikes to camp in a certain area. and also what is the course like?

  • I think it's similar to Lurleen. Linda has ridden there. I'd rather get a campsite.

  •  Corbin, Is this going to be anything like the mudfest last year at DSG? If I go I'll pack some running shoes just in case

  • The DSG mud is in a class by itself. I've never actually rideen at Ft. Yargo, but hopefully it's soil base is more like Oak Mountain's. I just reserved 1 camp site (6 people). They have 20 left.

  •  Mary, if you don't want to race you can always come and ring the cowbell for us - we can always use motivation - we can also try to arrange a 4 person team so the hours are fewer - 3 hours/person.   It's likely the course is short enough to break the 3 hours into a couple of segments.  These are fun events - even if there is 6 inches of mud (which there won't be hopefully).

  • Mickie, last year's race turned into a major mud fest, but it still couldn't compare to what I saw of your experience at DSG.  Here's the "aftermath" thread from last year with plento of pics;

    http://www.sorba.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=26794&hilit=dirty+spokes+yargo

    The yargo trail system is super sweet & I'd say it's a bit more like Swayback than OM, with amaybe a little Dead Dog climbing thrown in.  The camp grounds are very nice and well maintained with excellent bath houses, but you'll probably have to drive a few minutes to the race area.  Definately reserve your camp sites.  Also, when you arrive on Friday, go straight to the race start area & stake out a spot on the course for your pit with an EZ up tent thing.

    Here's some videos;

    I've done this race a couple times & always had a blast, even when it rained last year.  It's well organized & laid back too.  You guys will have a blast!

  • Looks like I need to check BUMP forum more often...   I've been out of the loop.....Yes, I would love to do this race again!!  Did it two years in a row and the course is so much fun!  I haven't been on Mtn. bike much lately but what the heck!!!  I will probably do the 6 hour solo,  you can do as many loops as you want.... they are aprox. 11-12 miles.  Mary, you would have a blast!!!  You should sign up, riders are super friendly and supportive, go your own pace and have fun!   I do believe camping is limited, if you plan to camp I would reserve now!!

    Hope for no rain!!!   Mickie, are you in?  Does anyone have a tent?  You'll loop past tent on each lap (can keep coolers etc.)   It's very laid  back.

    I miss everyone........I'll be traveling a ton in  March/ April but I 'll do my best to meet up for a OM ride soon!!!

  •  I am planning on it. Corbin has promised no mud this time. It has been so long since I have been on a dry trail I am not sure I would even recognize dust.

  • Mary, Kim says she will team with you..if we can find a family member to watch the kids  while we are there.  She says it will be motivation for six weeks of prep. She's counting on you.
